Under New Jersey's enhanced Inspection and Maintenance (I/M) program, all emission-related repairs must be done by a certified ERT (or under their supervision). The State has established the Emission Technician Education Program (ETEP), which identifies the requirements needed to become a certified ERT in New Jersey. Recertification is required every 5 years.
Coming in 2020!
Beginning in January of 2020, The ERT Certification program will be transitioning to the ASE Test Track ONLY.
The ETEP Education Track will no longer be available after December 31, 2019.
You will not need to meet the new requirements until your current ERT certification is due to expire.
